Hello Agents & Operatives,
It's not quite the end of the year (the end of 2020 can't come soon enough!), but I wanted to get this out early so we can maybe have a little bit of quiet time during these year end holidays.
The Masked Mage
This year has obviously been full of unexpected challenges and difficult times. Our campaign funded not quite seven months ago, but it seems like it's been about 7 years since then! This year would normally have been mostly about watching the gradual progress on the projects we helped fund, as they slowly work their way to us. This year wasn't normal at all, though, but things have still moved along. I'm hoping 2021 is a much more manageable year, and looking forward to the results of the hard work of the Onyx Path team.

ONYX PATH ON KICKSTARTER IN 2020
To say this year was challenging would be an understatement. Despite difficult, uncertainty, and demanding situations, the Onyx Path team continued to work on the great projects that have made us fans. It wasn't easy - schedules shifted, delays managed, and difficulties dealt with - but here we are at the end of 2020 with some victories to show!
Kickstarter continues to be an important part of the process for Onyx Path, and looking at the long list of projects in the works on the Monday Meeting Notes blog, it certainly looks like that’ll continue to be the case in 2021.
Rather than just take pre-order for an upcoming project, Kickstarter has allowed Onyx Path to gauge interest in game lines (to see if they should develop additional projects beyond those offered during the campaign), and sometimes even add additional projects to a game line immediately via Stretch Goal achievements. More importantly, it’s a chance to interact with the community and for everyone to get involved from the earliest stages.
Looking at 2020, Onyx Path had 7 Kickstarter campaigns funded, with one more currently on the go!
And, though the campaign still has a few days to go, the recent DeadMan's Rust mega-adventure and setting supplement for ScarredLands 5th Edition has funded, which means it will get added to the list soon!

Hello Agents & Operatives,
As noted in last month's update, we're still in the earliest portion of this part of the project, so these update posts are mostly just me touching base and ensuring that I'm communicating with your regularly on this project. Also, it helps me keep track of time! This year has been a wild one and anything that keeps track of the months has been helpful! I mean, can you believe it's been 5 months since our campaign ended? It feels like it just happened... and that it happened a year ago at the same time.
Time has lost all meaning!
Anyway, that's all preamble to saying that there's no major update this month. Everything is moving forward in the background and seems on track. Before I list up our rewards, let me just throw out one quick BackerKit reminder.

A new mega-adventure for the Scarred Lands setting, Dead Man’s Rust contains:
A complete campaign taking characters from level 1 to 10

As we come to the (almost) end of October, it's time to check in on our projects as the Onyx Path team continues in this next phase of production.

As mentioned previously, it's important to send out these monthly updates - even when they're mostly boring "still working on it" posts - to ensure that communication on this project is constant and consistent. The abandoned lover, waiting for her paramour to return, only to die, alone. Now she waits in her house forever.
The murdered family, killed in a spree so violent their spirits couldn’t pass on to the hereafter, now wreaking an untampered revenge on anyone they find.
The serial killer, who never made his tally complete in life, now determined to possess the bodies of the living to continue his gruesome campaign.
These ghosts, and more, haunt our world. They watch us, they torment us, they play with us, they find themselves locked in Sisyphean cycles, where the only respite comes through the haunting of the living.
It is our role to hunt these spirits down. Some believe we’re laying them to a deserved rest. Others hunt for the renown and to put down the homicidal dead. Others believe they’re doing God’s work, or with every hunt, their knowledge of the paranormal world increases.
We are ghost hunters, and regardless of our motives, it is our task to ensure the dead may no longer torture the living.
Ghost Hunters includes:
A broad, deep history of ghost hunter cells, and catalogue of weapons and artifacts ghost hunters might use in the World of Darkness.
Playable options among the hunters that fight with bullets and blades, and those who fight with belief and supernatural power. Alongside them, those hunters who would track, cage, and study the dead.
A wide array of story hooks and rich storytelling advice for those who wish to run a game of Ghost Hunters set alongside any of the World of Darkness 20A games.
An appendix containing a selection of antagonists your ghost hunters may come to face.

As noted last month, it's time for our regular month end status update. I'll be sending a progress report near the end of each month to ensure we're all on the same page and nothing drops off the radar. There likely won't be a ton of movement this early on, but it's good to keep a regular update schedule so that you always know where we stand.

COMING SOON TO KICKSTARTER
As a Hero, a Scion becomes a figure of myth and story, an exemplar of some virtue of their chosen society or the culture they’re born into. Even before their Visitation, the children of the Gods are a breed apart. But some want more than this lesser form of immortality, forever in the shadow of their parents. The golden ichor within the Scion’s heart sears and cooks them, ever burning away any human frailties of the Scion and driving them toward more audacious Deeds. They seek to become truly transformational figures, leaving The World forever different in their wake. At the fifth dot of Legend, it all reaches a tipping point, where the Scion is formed more of divine ichor than mortal flesh —more immortal than mortal, a true Demigod. They have declared to The World that they will not be pawns of Fate, but players in their own right. They will succeed in becoming a God, or they will die with their failure.
Everything up to this point was your prologue. Now it’s time to live your myth.
Scion: Demigod continues the path set down by Scion: Origin and Scion: Hero, expanding Scion Second Edition’s power level and charting the next level of power tiers for the Scions of the Gods. Players will take their characters through a tightly designed yet flexible story arc that ends in apotheosis or death – either way, the character will no longer be mortal after this book. Your characters don’t have to follow every Milestone with their Deeds — but they cannot run from their destiny once they’ve chosen to embrace it.
